about

This piece was created between the Moon cycles of Oct '20.

'Laggen' - To splash in the water.

The title 'Laggen' (Cornish: To splash in the water) is a reference to Apollo Splash-Down that took place on July 21, 1975 11:50 BST–6 years to the date when the Apollo 11 mission returned to Earth.
It is the module's return to Earth after a successful voyage that inspired this piece.

The mission titled 'Apollo–Soyuz Test Project' was the first joint mission between the Soviets and USA, indeed, the first international space mission that took place.
Apollo–Soyuz was a test that delivered on the hypothesis that two different modules could dock successfully in space, achieving this goal on 17 July 1975 17:12 BST. Three hours after the connection was made, astronauts from different origins exchanged handshakes gifts, and commemorative plaques–an event pivotal during the ongoing Cold War tensions.

"I really believe that we were sort of an example … to the countries. We were a little of a spark or a foot in the door that started better communications." - Vance Brand, Apollo–Soyuz astronaut.

The sample that can be heard throughout is taken from archive news footage from the Apollo splashdown & recovery.
